Council views diversity and equalities as integral to both service delivery and the employment of staff.
What do we mean by diversity and equalities? Diversity, is a term that refers to the differences that individuals may chose to identify with such as differences in the values, attitudes, cultural perspective, beliefs, ethnic background, sexuality, age, faith, knowledge and life experiences of each individual in any group of people. The term is used to highlight individual needs and focus on the elimination of barriers.
Equalities refers to the all area's that we undertake, addressing issues such as discrimination and disadvantage, with reference to race equality, disability, gender, sexuality, faith and age.
